Agency in a Box: the AI agent floor on an Owedly desk
Collection agency software has to hold the file, the queue, the letters, and the next step in one place. Owedly™ calls that desk Agency in a Box. Signed-in desks get a floor of AI agents. The agents propose work. A person still owns the file. This page describes the floor the product actually ships: the six roles, which desk wakes which roles, and the gate in front of outbound actions.
Agencies work on Owedly with the creditor or debt buyer and the collector assigned to the file. This is not a comparison with hiring an agency. If you are new to the product, start with What is Owedly?.
Owedly is a software and staffing platform. Owedly does not buy or own debts; collection work is performed by the creditor, agency, or a licensed collector they authorize through Owedly.
The six agents, in the product's own words
Each role has a short job. These are the in-product descriptions, not extra powers invented for this article.
- Desk Lead: triage, queue, handoffs, what to do next.
- Closer: settlement ladder, paid in full, and payment plans.
- Compliance: mini-Miranda, Regulation F, TCPA and do-not-call, and hard stops.
- Skip: identity and enrichment strategy, with compliance first.
- Disputes: validation, fraud forks, and chargeback evidence.
- QA: post-touch checklist and disposition protection.
Pack bodies are lease-gated. Core desk chat stays available. Deeper pack material is not dumped into the chat. Agents propose. They do not send collection messages, move money, or accept a settlement on their own.
Which desk wakes which agents
The default wake set depends on the door. An agency desk wakes all six: Desk Lead, Closer, Compliance, Skip, Disputes, and QA. A creditor desk wakes Desk Lead, Closer, Compliance, Disputes, and QA. Skip is not part of the default creditor wake set. A debt buyer desk gets the full floor, including Skip and Disputes. The same Owedly chrome is used. The kind of business changes the access and the wake set. It does not create a second app.
The compliance gate is a product feature
Outbound Agency Floor actions pass a compliance gate first. FDCPA, mini-Miranda, and hard stops stay on even without a Compliance pack lease. Blocked proposals can open an exception for a person to review. These are features of the desk. They are not a statement that a particular action is compliant, and they do not shift responsibility off the desk owner. The desk owner remains responsible for the work.
The FDCPA and Regulation F are the federal collections rules the gate is built around, along with the product's hard stops. This page does not apply those rules to a file and does not describe a legal result. Lawyer-gated templates stay gated. Owedly does not turn the desk into a lawsuit product, and it does not promise recovery rates or outcomes.
Offers stay with the creditor or agency
The Closer role is there for settlement ladder, paid-in-full, and payment-plan work the desk is already doing. The offer itself is not something the AI invents.
The creditor or agency sets any settlement terms. Owedly's AI only relays and explains offers they have already approved for your account, word for word. It never proposes, negotiates, or changes amounts, and Owedly doesn't charge consumers to use Resolve. Nothing is accepted or paid without your explicit action.
A day on the agency desk
The agency landing describes the operating picture: inventory, work queues, payments, and letters on the same desk. Placements sit in a queue. The file can be marked Face, Collected, or Postdates, and exceptions stay visible. Access follows the organization and the inventory assigned to it.
Agencies can invite a client with a unique Owedly invite link. A debt buyer or creditor redeems that link and becomes a client of this agency. They can still join other agencies. The invite is a relationship on the desk. It is not a transfer of ownership of a debt to Owedly.
Collectors on the file
Independent collectors join iCollect, Owedly's freelance 1099 collector network, and work the accounts they are assigned. They start at Collect. Join iCollect now. Live calls and texts open to approved collectors as accounts go live. When they open, collectors can take them in a browser or in the Owedly Android app. Saving a profile does not by itself approve live collection work. This page does not quote earnings or promise volume.
Disputes and chargebacks
The Disputes role covers validation, fraud forks, and chargeback evidence. Merchants list a card loss in Chargeback Hub. People who got a call or a letter use Owedly Resolve. A consumer who wants a letter to copy and mail can use the debt validation letter generator. Reason codes for merchants are in the chargeback reason code lookup. Those tools are references and drafts. They are not the agency's outbound mail.
Pricing
Business pricing is usage-based; current rates and options are on the pricing page. Fees you agree with a processor, agency, or other provider are separate from Owedly software pricing.
Pick the door, then the floor
Creditors, agencies, and debt buyers each have a door. The portals page is the map. More product answers are on the FAQ. Connected assistants, if you bring your own, are described on the agents pages. They save drafts for review. They do not send the desk's collection messages.
This is general information, not legal advice. It does not say that a queue, a letter, or an agent action is compliant on a given file. Product questions can go to support@owedly.ai.
